The comedy giants Steve Martin and Martin Short are back on stage with their new tour “The Dukes of Funnytown”. The duo bring their comedic genius and subversive humor to Wang Theatre in Boston on November 7th.

Martin and Short’s 30 year long friendship began on the film set of the 1986 movie “The Three Amigos” and ever since they have gifted us with some of their best collaborative works such as multiple appearances on the American show SNL, the “Father of the Bride” trilogy, and most recent TV series “Only Murders in the Building” with pop icon Selena Gomez. As well as on screen collaborations, the two have been touring together since 2015, showing off their unique blend of comedy, acting and musical capabilities that leave the audience in stitches.

The Dukes of Funnytown

When thinking about comedy, there are only a few selected names that pop to mind, including the incredibly hilarious Steve Marting and Martin Short.

The two are blessing the Wang Theatre in [city] with their presence on November 7th. The show is part of their new collaborative tour “The Dukes of Funnytown”, where the two roast eachother, throw endless incredible punchlines at the audience, and even play some banjo! 

Two Giants

Steve Martin and Martin Short have been putting on their standup shows and tours since 2015, but their friendship and collaborative projects go a long way back. The two first met each other whilst filming one of the most iconic comedy films the “Three Amigos!” in 1986 with fellow funnyman Chavy Chase. In over 35 years, they have appeared in many movies and shows together, namely the “Father of the Bride” trilogy, many SNL episodes, and most recently in American TV series “Only Murders in the Building” with singer and actor Selena Gomez.

Stephen Glenn Martin is an Award winning American actor, comedian, writer, producer and a musician, famously a great banjo player. Martin’s stand-up or comedy journey began when he landed his first job as a writer for the show “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” in 1967, which earned him his first Emmy Awards 1969 alongside other writers of the show. He continued his writing role for other shows such as The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour and The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. Martin made his first frequent appearances on Staurday Night Live (SNL) in the mid-1970s, along with other shows such as The Muppet Show and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. SNL’s viewers said to have raised by millions during episode which Martin appeared on. During 1970s, Marting also began developing and releasing his comedy albums, soon selling out large stadiums and subsequently receiving many Grammy Awards. Martin’s first major acting breakthrough came from his starring role in the 1979 film The Jerk which he also co-wrote. Since, he has starred in many iconic comedy films such as Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982), The Man with Two Brains (1983), ¡Three Amigos! (1986), Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988), Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003), the Father of the Bride films (1991–1995), Bringing Down the House (2003), and the Cheaper by the Dozen films (2003–2005). 

Martin Short

Martin Hayter Short is an Award winning Canadian-American actor, comedian and writer, known for his energetic style of comedy. Short’s acting and comedy career began at his role in Broadway hit “Godspell” in 1972. After some encouragement, Short joined the improvisation group The Second City in 1977, and gained a wide public notice when the group released their television show Second City Television (SCTV) which aired for several years in Canada. Short’s American breakthrough and popularity came in 1979 when he starred in American sitcom “The Associates”. His popularity landed him a role in SNL in the 80s where he revived the show with his many characters and exaggerated comedic capabilities. After several years of standup and sketch comedy, Short starred in films such as Three Amigos (1986), Innerspace (1987), The Big Picture (1989), Captain Ron (1992), Father of the Bride Part II (1995), Mars Attacks! (1996), Jungle 2 Jungle (1997), Mumford (1999) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006).
