Riverdance 30 – The New Generation at Wang Theatre

One of the world’s most magical touring dance shows is heading back to the US. Known for their unique blend of traditional Irish influences and international dance numbers, they’ve captivated audiences since 1995. Becoming a global sensation, the group started by ​​Irish dancing champions Jean Butler and Michael Flatley found their way dancing through the stars, inspiring new generations of dancers & musicians. From an interval act in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, production team John McColgan and Moya Doherty expanded their gig into a full stage show.

This year, RIVERDANCE is taking on a new era — ushering THE NEW GENERATION of performers LIVE on stage across the US. Celebrating 30 years of magical feats, the international Irish dance phenomenon is finally making its highly-anticipated return a reality. For the first time since 2018, they’re gracing through 35 major cities across the country.

With Grammy Award-winning music, infectious energy, and hypnotic choreography, every performance leaves guests’ breath taken away. Marking three decades since their Eurovision stint took off, its producers tease spectacular innovations that’ll change the game for Riverdance today. New choreography, costumes, lights, motion graphics, and artistic direction, its “New Generation” of performers is ought to redefine traditional Irish dance with global influencers today.

“It is both a privilege and a delight to celebrate 30 years of Riverdance and the unique journey it has taken us on. In those 30 years the show has transformed from a spectacle into a global cultural phenomenon – continuously evolving yet remaining true to its Irish roots,” Director Josh McColgan said via an official release.

“This new breed of performers is not only rooted and respectful of their tradition, but also fearless in exploring music and dance forms from all over the world. For me, in a world that seems to grow increasingly narrow and insular, this is a powerful cause for celebration and hope,” Composer Bill Whelan shared, telling how it’s great to see growing numbers of young people looking back at traditional Irish music.

Performing at the historical Wang Theatre, the hall’s stunningly majestic architecture is a perfect match for Riverdance’s legendary feats. Welcoming a new generation of stars, it’s the top place to celebrate this 30th-year milestone.
