Billboard crowned Ross the "Female Entertainer of the Century" in 1976. Since starting her solo career in 1970, Ross has put out 25 studio albums, countless singles, and compilations that have sold over 100 million copies globally. She is the only female musician to have number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in the following roles: solo, duet partner, trio member, and ensemble member. Her hits as a Supreme and a solo artist combined put Ross among the Top 5 artists on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart from 1955 to 2018. She had a top 10 UK ranking in 2021, according to Billboard, which listed her as the 30th greatest Hot 100 artist of all time.
She scored a top 10 UK success in each of the previous fifty years, and from 1964 to 1996, she sang lead on a top 75 hit single in the UK at least once a year, a record for any singer that spanned 33 years. As a member of the Supremes, Ross was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. He is one of the few entertainers to have two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement honor in 2012 and 2023 (becoming the first woman to win the honor twice), the Kennedy Center Honors in 2007, the Special Tony Award in 1977, and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and 2023 (the latter as a member of The Supremes) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
