It’s a monumental cultural showdown that has been enjoyed by countless audiences worldwide! Riverdance celebrates its 30th year anniversary this 2025 and the dance troupe is ready to hit the world with magnificent showdowns! The spectacle comes over to North America this spring with 19 highly anticipated stops in major cities. For Boston, Massachusetts alone, Riverdance will be serving a tota of eight performances! Riverdance fuses international with traditional Irish dances. Founded in 1994, Riverdance originated as a brilliant seven-minute act that performed at the highly prestigious Eurovision song contest. The origins performance featured traditional Irish dancers Jean Butler, Michael Flatley, with song accompaniment by the vocal group Anuna. The dance was so awe-inspiring and groundbreaking that it was so well-received. Riverdance also features a fantastic Grammy Award-winning score by Bill Whelan. In fact, Riverdance’s original music has topped the Irish charts with a record-setting 18 weeks at number 1. 

This led to Riverdance becoming a full theatrical spectacle produced by veteran dancer Maya Doherty and directed by John McColgan. The husband and wife tandem invested over $1million to create this spectacle into a full on theater showdown. By 1995, Riverdance has toured across the world and performed in high profile events, including the 50th Annivesary VE Day and Royal College of Music at the inviation of Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth.
